DIMAPUR, MAY 14 (NPN): A special meeting of elected members of the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has been convened to consider a no-confidence motion against DMC chairperson Hukheto Yepthomi.
According to a DIPR report, the meeting was convened following a notice issued by the deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, after 12 out of the 23 elected members submitted a notice of intention to move the motion.
The special meeting has been scheduled for May 22, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the office of the Dimapur Municipal Council. All elected members, excluding ex-officio members and nominated members, of the DMC have been directed to attend the meeting. The notice, delivered by two elected members and received by the DC on May 11, was scrutinized and found to be in conformity with the procedural and substantive requirements laid down under Chapter-II, Section 15 (1) and (2) of the Nagaland Municipal Act, 2023.
The report stated that the motion fulfilled the statutory requirement of support by the mandated number of elected members.
Following verification, DC expressed satisfaction that the motion was procedurally valid and warranted convening of a special meeting for consideration of the motion.
