Dimapur Municipal Council Employees Welfare Union (DMCEWU) has resolved to serve a seven-day ultimatum on the Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) to address the pending salary issue.
The resolution, which was adopted at a general meeting held on July 24, 2025, was submitted to DMC chief executive officer (CEO).
Speaking to Nagaland Post, DMCEWU general secretary Lensanaro stated that the house unanimously adopted three key resolutions during the meeting. The first resolution pertained to launch a ‘No Pay, No Work’. It was resolved that all operations involving tools and machinery would be suspended starting August 5, 2025 if the salary issue was not addressed on or before August 4, 2024.
Secondly, the meeting resolved to strengthen the union’s demand for the timely disbursement of financial entitlements.
DMCEWU also demanded regular monthly payment of Employee Provident Fund (EPF), Group Savings Linked Insurance (GSLI), gratuity, and other employment-related benefits.
Lensanaro pointed out that several employees, who retired in 2023, were yet to receive their rightful retirement benefits.
DMCEWU also stressed the need for the proper and judicious deployment of DMC employees. The union urged the administration to assign duties more efficiently and in line with each employee’s official responsibilities.
On the current status of salary disbursement, Lensanaro said general ministerial staff have received their salaries up to March 2025, and Grade IV sanitation workers up to April 2025, leaving salaries pending for four and three months respectively, as of July 2025.
Seeking cooperation from public, DMCEWU said that during ‘No Pay, No Work’, all public services would remain suspended.
DMCEWU has called upon municipal authorities to take swift and appropriate action to resolve the issues.
