Coordination committee of the Dimapur District Truck Drivers Welfare Trade Union (DDTDWTU) and Dimapur District Truck Owners Association (DDTOA) has appealed to the state government to reconsider its move to lease out toll tax and fees for commercial vehicles to private individual, firm etc. from the month of October 2016, in the interest of the welfare its members and the public. In a press release, DDTDWTU president H Kaiho Zhimo and DDTOA president Hokheto Kiba said the members of the two unions form the major tax payer of such toll fees and tax, hence the practical problems faced by truckers should also be heard. In the event the department failed to pay heed to the appeal, they warned that its members should not be held accountable for any untoward incident arising out of refusal to pay such tax.
