The two-day, silver jubilee celebration of Dimapur Nkonjan Nungying Ekhung (DNNE) came to an end on Wednesday at Lotha Hoho Ki, Dimapur.
The occasion was graced by assistant chief electoral officer, R. Mhathung Ngullie as special guest.
Addressing the gathering after releasing the DNNE silver jubilee souvenir, the special guest recollected the importance of education for development of any society. To this end, he urged the parents to educate and support their children so that they not only excel but will contribute towards development. Stressing that unity was vital for any union to progress, he called upon the DNNE members to bury their differences and forge ahead in unity.
The special guest further said that celebration of jubilee was not only about remembering the past but to move forward with a new vision in the spirit of forgiveness.
A brief history on the formation of DNNE was narrated by DNNE founder, Renjamo Kikon.
The speaker of the celebration was Nungying Baptist Church pastor, S. Rentsamo Kithan.
A word of encouragement was delivered by K. Nzio Ngullie while short speech was delivered by Lotha Hoho Dimapur chairman, Etsungmomo Kikon.
Home evangelist Bhandari Baptist church, Mhonyimo Kikon invoked God’s blessing to all DNNE members. Speech on behalf of women of Nungying married outside their village community was delivered by Rose Yanthan Sukhalu. Highlights of the programme included special number by DNNE women group and first runner-up Naga Hindi Voice 2014, Nzanrhoni Patton and scripture reading by R. Benrilo Ngullie, B.th DBC. Earlier, the programme chaired by jubilee chairman, N. Chanbemo Ngullie began with an invocation by jubilee history committee secretary, M. Nchumbemo Kikon while welcome address was delivered by DNNE chairman, O. Renben Ngullie. The programme concluded with a prayer by executive secretary NCRC, Rev. Nyimsao Ngullie after a vote of thanks by jubilee secretary Thungchamo Enny.
