DNSU confers B&K memorial awards

Diphupar Naga Students Union (DNSU) organised the 1st B&K memorial award in honour of late Bendangnungsang Longkumer and late Er. Khriesavizo Metha, on January 31 at local ground, Diphupar Village. 

Addressing the gathering, president, DNSU, N. Pitovi Achumi stated that the awards were instated in order to show the martyrs that their sacrifices were not in vain. He briefed the gathering that their sacrifice in itself was a contribution to society, and in this context, DNSU wanted to acknowledge distinguished personalities for their contributions. Convenor, JCC, Vekhosayi Nyekha, on his speech spoke about the sacrifice made by late Bendang and Avizo and stated that their sacrifices would go on into the history books of the Nagas for generations to come. He reiterated that JCC was formed to fight for the Nagas, and would continue to do so. He also appealed to the gathering that the Nagas should work together once again to achieve their rights.

Nukshi Longkumer, brother of late Bendang, in his speech spoke about how his brother and late Avizo’s sacrifice helped Nagas protect their right. He was of the opinion that their sacrifices had filled the gap of the Naga family and hoped that their sacrifices would be a new beginning to work for the unity of the Nagas in general. 

Keduowhelie Avio Metha, brother of late Avizo, also spoke on the program, where he stated that the Naga strength, where it is today, was an upshot of the selfless and noble sacrifices rendered by them. 

The program was compeered by Junny D. Yeptho, and pastor, ABCD, N. Lipok Jamir offered the invocation. Special numbers were presented by Alobo Naga, Colored Keys, Diethozo Thakro, Diphupar Youths, Kikruleno Sechu and Thunglamo Ngullie, and Moko Koza, who sang an original song, “When you come home”, dedicated to late Bendang and Avizo. A piano recital was also played by Hotolu Yeptho.  Welcome note was delivered by convenor, organizing committee, Dr. T. Lima Jamir and a short speech was delivered by chairman, DVC, Ghuzui Shohe.  Pastor, LBCD, Limhathung Lotha, delivered the benediction and the award ceremony ended with a candle lit prayer.
