Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) along with the Police went for prohibition drive against the sale of liquor in an around Dimapur on March 3 and had seized 272 bottles of assorted IMFL and foreign liquors at different outlets.
A press release from DNSU media cell stated that, an FIR has also been lodged against the defaulters. Meanwhile, the union was quite surprised to see some of the seized liquors had “For sale to defense personnel only” stamped on from one of the renowned restaurant in Dimapur.
In this regard, the DNSU has appealed the commissioner of Excise to investigate the matter. Union also warned all the bars and restaurants in an around Dimapur to refrain from selling any kinds of liquors, failing which the defaulters will be dealt with strict action as deemed fit and proper.
Kohima: Kohima Excise personnel manning Peducha check gate intercepted a vehicle Tata Sumo with registration no. NL07-T- 0220 and detected around 480 numbers of assorted liquour on March 4.
According to assistant commissioner of Excise (zonal) P. Phyobemi Kikon , the vehicle was signalled to stop but the occupants of the vehicle sped off to avoid being caught, however the duty party gave a hot pursuit and in the process managed to apprehend the occupants from 10th mile road.
Arrested persons have been booked under relevant section of NLTP Act 1989. Duty party was led by Hainyilo Magh IE, Pusukhung AIE Zaselatuo H/C and constables Shikaho, Kuvejopo, Penshak, Kelhouvikuo, Vangtok, Nyintsemo and Tsatsula.
Dimapur: Dimapur district Excise, manning Chumukedima excise check gate intercepted a vehicle on March 4. According to superintendent of Excise and Prohibition, Dimapur, T Arilong Longkumer, on frisking the vehicle (Tata sumo passenger taxi) bearing registration No NL O8T 0034, 248 bottles of IMFL were recovered.
In this connection, one Aselu and Vepolu was arrested and booked under the relevant section of NLTP Act 1989. District excise duty party was led by Allen Jami AIE (I/c), Tsathongli and Kiyerangzaile lady constable.
