DNSU flags absenteeism in govt offices, calls for strict office hours

DIMAPUR, AUG 25 (NPN): Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has appealed to government departments, public institutions and offices within Dimapur to ensure regular attendance and strict adherence to prescribed official working hours.
DNSU, through its media cell, said it had received public feedback regarding delayed attendance, early departure and unavailability of officials during working hours, affecting timely delivery of public services and causing inconvenience to citizens, students and visitors. In the interest of efficient administration and improved service delivery, the union said it would undertake periodic visits to government offices, educational institutions and other public establishments within its jurisdiction to understand their functioning and gather public feedback.
DNSU requested heads of departments and staff to remain available at their designated stations during official hours, observe prescribed attendance procedures and ensure citizens receive timely assistance and necessary information.
The union also urged officials to properly communicate instances of official leave, field duty or other authorised absences and maintain professionalism, accountability and courtesy in dealings with the public.
DNSU said concerns observed during its visits would be communicated to concerned authorities for necessary consideration. It said constructive cooperation would help strengthen administration and confidence. The union appealed to all departments and institutions to extend cooperation in the larger public interest.
