DIMAPUR: Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has expressed serious concern over the delay in investigation following the lodging of an FIR against Nirmal Jain in connection with the fraudulent procurement of an Indigenous Certificate (IC) and subsequent illegal land transactions.
DNSU media cell, while acknowledging the cancellation of the fraudulently obtained certificate as a step toward justice, urged law enforcement agencies and the district administration to expedite the investigation and pursue the case with utmost priority. It cautioned that delays undermine public trust and weaken the rule of law, particularly in matters affecting the rights and identity of indigenous people.
The Union reiterated that the issue was not an isolated incident but reflected broader concerns involving illegal land dealings and misuse of government mechanisms. It called for a thorough, time bound investigation to uncover the full extent of the fraud and hold all involved accountable.
DNSU further demanded immediate legal action against Girdharlal Sharma and associates who allegedly purchased land without valid Indigenous Certificates, stating that such transactions violate existing laws and threaten indigenous land rights.
While respecting the presence of non locals residing and working peacefully in the state, DNSU maintained it would not tolerate activities that compromise constitutional safeguards for the indigenous population. It appealed to political leaders, administrative officials and law enforcement agencies to act impartially and decisively, reaffirming the government’s commitment to protect Naga rights and identity.
The Union said it remains committed to pursuing the matter through lawful and democratic means and will continue to monitor developments. It also urged the public to share credible information on similar cases for appropriate action.
