DNSU warns gutka, tobacco sellers in Dmu

Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) has alleged that some dealers were taking undue advantage of the lockdown by selling gutkas and other tobacco products at very exorbitant rates as per their whims and wishes.

Pointing out that gutkas/tobacco products were non-essential commodities and their sale was strictly prohibited as per the Central government’s directive during the lockdown, the union expressed astonishment that the dealers of Marwaripati area, which had been sealed and declared quarantine zone by the Dimapur district administration, were supplying gutkas and tobacco products.

Mentioning that it had caught some retailers and wholesalers outside the zone who admitted that they were getting the items from the quarantine area, DNSU strongly warned those dealers, suppliers and retailers to abstain from such activities.

The union appealed to the district administration and police personnel on duty to strictly monitor such activities. On their failure to take corrective measures, the union warned that it would be compelled to take its own course of action as deemed fit and proper. This was stated in a press release.
