
Doctors in Mon district were urged to rededicate themselves in extending their “noble service” to the people of the district by Superintendent of Police (SP) Mon Yangba Konyak while addressing the doctors at the District Hospital Mon (DHM) first “Doctors Day” celebration, Friday.
While congratulating DHM doctors and staff for being award “Kayalap Award”, the SP asserted that they should be more encouraged and dedicated adding both doctors and police professions are correlated as they provide 24×7 services to ensure better health and security to the public.
He was also optimistic that with the consolidate efforts of the hospital staff, NGOs and other government departments the scenario of the hospital and its service would transform from better to best.
Asserting that it was time for people to change their attitude towards consulting a doctor in ailment, Yangba Konyak lamented that people only come to hospitals when all sorts of “local medications” have failed them.
In this regard, he said it was upon the doctors and all concerned to change the mindset of the people by conducting various awareness programme.
Also speaking at the programme, chief medical officer (CMO) Mon, Dr. U.K. Konyak urged the medical staff to render their best service to the people of Mon district.
Pointing out that DHM was awarded the “Kayalap for the best hospital” with 85% marks in the state level competition , the CMO appealed all concerned to strive harder to increase the percentage to make DHM the cleanest hospital in the country.
KNSK president Lomei Konyak while felicitating the doctors of Mon, on behalf of the NGOs thanked them for rendering their noble service to the people of Mon. She urged the doctors to continue their selfless service in saving the lives of the people.
Earlier, SMO & MS in-charge DHM Dr. Wungyong gave a brief power point presentation on the significance of the day. He said the day was observed to create awareness campaign on the roles, responsibilities and the importance of doctors as well as promote medical professionals to come closer and follow the responsibilities of their profession very dedicatedly. He also briefed on the biography of Dr. B.C. Roy a legendary physician whose birth anniversary is celebrated as doctor’s day.
District Statistical Officer, DHM Kaikho presented the overall statistics of the hospital under OPD, ER, and IPD from January 2016 – June 2016. He also briefed on deliveries and minor and major operations done during the six month period starting from January 2016.
In a power-point on oral health, dental officer DHM Dr. Chingo Wallim spoke on tobacco habits prevalent in the state of Nagaland and India. He also briefed on pre-cancer, causes of oral cancer and fate of oral cancer for the awareness of the mass.
MO DHM Dr. Yingnei who chaired the programme proposed the welcome address while MO DHM Dr. Yanang said the vote of thanks. Liang and Amei honored the doctors with their special number “you raise me up”. The programme was attended by the government officers, NGOs and other civil societies of Mon town.
