DoHFW informs food operators

In pursuance to Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (Licensing and registration of food business) Regulations, 2011, Directorate of Health & Family Welfare (DoHFW) has directed all food business operators in the state to obtain license or register their food business.
DoHFW has informed all food operators to register from the office of the designated officer (CMOs) of the districts for the period 2015-17 on or before March 31.
Principal Director and Additional Food Safe Commissioner, Directorate of Health & Family welfare, Dr. G Kemp, notified that any renewal application filed beyond the period mentioned would be accompanied by a late fee of Rs 100 per day.
Further, the department cautioned that operating food business without license or registration would be penalized upto Rs 5 lakh and imprisonment upto 6 months under section 63 of Food Safety & Standard Act, 2006.
