DoH&FW organises block level health mela across the state

Department of Health and Family Welfare (DoH&FW) in commemoration of 75th years of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav” has been organising block level health mela across the state.
Sabangya PHC: A block level health mela at Sabangya Primary Health Centre (PHC) Mokokchung was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh on April 25.
In his speech, the DC said all health-related services, awareness and programmes would be delivered to the public through the mela.
Highlighting the importance of health, Singh said every person should consider routine health check-up at least once a year. He also advocated the importance of government scheme like AB-PMJAY, which provides free assistance to the needy in selected health services in both private and government hospitals throughout the country.
In a short speech, Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Mokokchung, Dr.R.Chubala Aier said government of India introduced the health mela with the target of improving the health status of the population.
Stating that the efforts were made to bring health services to the doorstep, Dr. Aier urged for community support as collective ownership of health facilities would benefit the public.
Chukitong PHC: A block level health mela was organised on April 26 at Chukitong Primary Health Centre wherein Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Wokha, Dr.Tumchobeni stated that the health mela emphasise on Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana scheme and providing health services free of cost.
Community Health Officers, Premy Ezung and Chonbeni Kikon gave health talks and demonstration of hand washing techniques to school students from five educational institutions at Chukitong area. Nodal Officer, National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme Wokha, Dr.Akum Jamir informed that sputum examination for any suspected TB cases, review of patients with comorbidity and cough symptoms and CBNAT service were carried out by his team during the health mela.
Tuensang: District Health Society (DHS), Tuensang organised a block health mela on April 23 and 24 in Yakor village Shamator and Konya village, Tuensang.
In a press release from NHM, Tuensang DMO Apheang stated that the medical team was led by CMO, Dr. Keveduyi Theyo, accompanied by Epidemiologist (DSU IDSP) Dr. John Shupao, MO PHC Shamator Dr. Mhathung, MO Dental Dr. Kekhruseno, RTT WHO, Dr.T.Mero, UNICEF Nokching, ISRN Lirenthung and staff from various health programmes under CMO Tuensang.
At Konya village, altogether 135 patients were treated and a total of 27 HIV screening, 35 Malaria screening, 36 eye care on refractive error (Cataract screening) for above 40 years old and 15 Dental check up were done.
At Yakor village, around 87 patients availed the medical services and medicines were provided free of cost. 16 beneficiaries got vaccinated on Covid -19 vaccination and 19 beneficiaries on Ayushman Bharat E-Card were generated during the camp. IEC materials were also distributed during the camp.
UPHC Burma Camp: The block health mela was also organized at UPHC Burma Camp. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Atokhe while speaking on the occasion, stated that the Health Mela was an ideal opportunity for the public to avail health services at their doorstep. He appreciated the health department for taking pro-active steps to improve health delivery in the district and for their efforts especially during the Covid19 pandemic.
Chief Medical Officer Dimapur, Dr. I. Moatemjen also sensitized the gathering on the various health services and schemes made available in all government health units for the benefit of the public. He urged the communities of Burma Camp to avail the services at the UPHC.
CDPO, Renchano Odyuo highlighted the various schemes and services under the Social Welfare Department during the programme. Social Welfare Department also setup a stall to disseminate information of these schemes and services for the benefit of the public during the health mela.
Besides health check-ups, Outreach BIS Drive : issue of Ayushman Health Insurance Card, issue of Digital Health ID, collection of sample test for malaria, TB, and leprosy, vaccination, Interpersonal Communication and counseling, blood testing, screening of smokers through Smokelyzer test, etc were also carried out during the Health Mela. Free medicines and nutrition were also distributed.
