Don Bosco College Kohima (DBCK) held its 3rd annual “Quiz Time” at the college premises on June 29 with editor NEPS, Oken Jeet Sandham, as the special invitee.
A press release from DBCK principal, by Fr. Dr. P. Suresh stated that, while applauding the college for organizing such an event for students, Sandham, in his brief speech, encouraged the students to have a nose for news. He underlined the importance of updating themselves with the current news happening around the world.
He said that in this internet age, people forward messages that they receive and had ceased to be thinkers. He recalled that academicians were called walking encyclopaedias, but today people hardly gather knowledge.
In the competition, Ejonbeni, from third semester from department of Sociology was adjudged the first prize winner of this year’s “DBCK Quiz Time”, while Tiabenla, from fifth semester, department of Sociology and Visietuo, from first semester of department of Political Sciences secured the second and third positions respectively. The winners were awarded with cash prizes of Rs. 5000, Rs. 3000 and Rs. 2000 along with a trophy, medals and certificates. The competition had Dr. Aosunep, Jarani Mao, Pinky Sagolsem, and Vehutalu Vero as quiz masters; Kezienuo and Aveo as judges; George for scoreboard and Victor for timekeeping while Dr. Imtinaro Longkumer, “DBCK Quiz Time-2018” as the moderator.
Earlier, principal DBCK, Dr. Fr. P. Suresh, welcomed and felicitated the special invitee, a special number was presented by Anuka L Chophy, from BA 5th semester, while vote of thanks was proposed by “DBCK Quiz Time-2018” member, Dr. Velhou Koza. The program concluded with the singing of the College Anthem.
