Don Bosco College Kohima (DBCK) held its first-ever Literary Fest on February 21 under the theme “Literature, Lore and Legacy.”
In his welcome address, principal Fr. Dr. Tious Varghese expressed gratitude to the 20 participating institutions, faculties, students, guests, and partners. Viketuno Rio, proprietor of The White Owl, Chümoukedima, graced the occasion as guest speaker. She highlighted the growing culture of literary festivals in India, noting that such gatherings bring books into public life, create opportunities for young minds to meet authors, and foster independent thinking.
A thought-provoking panel discussion featured Vishü Rita Krocha (author, Penthrill Publication House), Dr. Theyiesinuo Keditsu (Kohima College), and Dr. Sentinaro (Baptist College), moderated by Bendang Jamir. The panelists shared insights on crafting legacies, writing journeys, and the impact of literature on personal and community growth.
Guest judges Dr. Sentinaro, Runshito Lims, and Kevilenuo Roselyn Miachieo reflected on poetry’s influence in their lives. Young participants from various institutions showcased their talents in extempore and performative poetry.
Special performances were presented by Menangkokla Imchen and Toshi Aier.
The event was chaired by Rachel Tungoe, with vote of thanks proposed by Neikethonuo Chielie. Prayers were offered by Senjano N. Murry and Kewale Wozah.
