
Don Bosco Kohima kicked off its 50 years golden jubilee yearlong celebration at a grand function held on Sunday evening at the school auditorium.
50 representatives of each batch hoisted jubilee flag while 50 candles were placed at the celebration hall simultaneously.
Advisor of Science and IT&C, Science and Technology and NRE, Mmhonlumo Kikon who was also a 1994 batch graced the launching event as special guest. In his address Kikon recalled his days in the school and the values and principles imbibed in the students.
He congratulated the institution for completing 50 years, stating that celebrating 50 years was historic for any organisation or institution. Asserting that Don Bosco rooted in values and ideas, Kikon said today many achievers in and outside the state and even in different parts of the world were a product of Don Bosco, testifying to the value based education received from the school.
He urged the alumni of Don Bosco to take a pledge that their cause should be for peaceful Nagaland and a change maker for better Nagaland. Dr. Zavie Hiese who was one amongst the first batch reminisced his days in Don Bosco and how he drew inspiration from the insitute to become a scientist.
Also Fr. Kuriakose SDB advocated never to be satisfied with what was there but strive for more and to be tolerant to criticism and face harsh situation with positive mind.
Fr. Dr. P. Suresh, rector and principal Don Bosco College and Fr. T. P James, principal Don Bosco Kohima delivered greetings on the occasion.
Chairman jubilee organizing committee, K. D Vizo in his welcome address said it was time to acknowledge the past and present faculty for shaping and moulding the students of the institution for 50 years.
He said the celebration was also an opportunity as to whether the people were preserving the values and rich heritage taught by the teachers.
The launching programme witnessed brief history of Don Bosco by vice principal DBHSS, Fr. Innocent Panmei SDB, songs, launching of jubilee commemoration music and video album and bonfire.
