DoPN to carryout disconnection drive, raid

Department of Power Nagaland (DoPN) has informed all the electricity consumers of all categories (government consumers, bulk, industrial, commercial, domestic, VEMB and UEMB consumers) under electrical division Dimapur that it would be intensively conducting disconnection drive on defaulting consumers for non-payment of electricity bill having arrears for more than two months as well as raids on theft of power through hooking, tampering of energy meters and pilferage of Energy meters.

In a notice, electrical division, Dimapur executive engineer Lhuvoyi said the proposed exercise would be carried out at various locations under electrical division Dimapur with immediate effect without further notice.

Therefore, all electricity consumers of all kinds of categories have been reminded to clear their outstanding bills and to desist from the illegal activities in order to avoid inconvenience.

The department cautioned that as per Indian Electricity Act 2003 Part XIV, Section 135, any person who uses power illegally would be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years or with fine or with both.
