DoSE clarifies to CWS statement

Department of School Education (DoSE) has issued a clarification to the statement by Chang Students’ Conference after it pointed out that admission process for Class 11 in two government Hr. Secondary Schools in Tuensang were put on halt due to lack of classrooms and shortage of teachers.
In a statement, principal director School Education Thavaseelan K said the construction of four new classrooms and major repair of eight classrooms at GHSS Thangjam would commence as work orders were issued in May in this regard.
On the issue of shortage of seats for Class 11 students, Thavaseelan said that GHSS, Tuensang had been chosen as the lighthouse school for Tuensang district under World Bank-funded NECTAR Project and that multiple infrastructure and other interventions would be taken up at the GHSS.
Further, proposal for upgrade of GHS, Hakushang to GHSS would be put up for approval of the State Level Education Committee (SLEC) in the next meeting. Once approved, DoSE said it would then need clearance/approval/concurrence of the P&AR and Finance departments for post creation/conversion and cabinet approval.
Subsequently, recruitment of PGTs would be done by NPSC and processes would take more than a year. To address the issue of requirement of more PGTs at GHSS Tuensang and GHSS Thangjam, DoSE had recently posted requisite number of PGTs at both the schools. Further, rationalisation of PGTs would be undertaken once the ongoing recruitment process was completed.
