A five-day block level training programme aimed at enhancing the capabilities of government teachers in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) and Foundation Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) culminated on March 16 at the Multi-Purpose Hall Sanis, Wokha.
A press release by the Department of School Education (DoSE) Kohima informed that the department organised the training for the Educational Block Resource Centre (EBRC) in Sanis block.
DoSE said the primary goal of the training was to equip teachers with the necessary skills and knowledge about the Nagaland ECCE curriculum, slated for implementation in all government schools starting from the academic session of 2024.
The five-day training aimed to familiarize teachers with the utilization of the handbook, supplemented by additional sessions on FLN and the effective integration of worksheets and supplementary materials tailored for the foundational stage of education.
In a keynote address, DoSE assistant director, Thungchio Shitiri, highlighted the significance of the training and its alignment with recent initiatives in ECCE and FLN. He emphasised the importance of quality early childhood education in laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Sanis, Samuel Konyak, encouraged the trainees to make the most of the training opportunity, while Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO) Sanis, Raphael Zubonthung, underscored the importance of continuous professional development for educators, and the EBRC coordinator, Esther Kikon, elucidated on the objectives of the training programme, emphasizing its role in enhancing teaching effectiveness and student outcomes.
The programme was also attended by the joint mission director of Samagra Shiksha Kohima, Dr. Bijano Murry, program manager, Mughato Swu, and senior lecturer and state resource person of SCERT, Nagaland, VeketuluVeyie. Altogether, 46 teachers representing 21 schools were trained on modern methodologies and best practices in ECCE and FLN during the five-day training programme by resource persons, ToT, Daisy and Phyodemo.
