DoSE informs schools

 Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has launched a special program for school children called the “Young Scientist Program” in tune with the Government of India’s vision “Jai Vigyan, Jai Anusandhan”.

A press release by the directorate of School Education (DoSE) director, Wonthungo Tsopoe, stated that it is a two-week program (from April to May 2019), aimed at imparting knowledge on space technology, space science and space applications to students. Selected students will be accommodated in ISRO guest houses/hostels. Expenditure towards travel of students, II AC fare by train from nearest Railway Station to the reporting centre and back, course material, lodging and boarding etc., during the entire course will be borne by ISRO.
The DoSE has also informed interested parties that three students who have completed 8th standard and are currently studying in the 9th standard will be selected to attend the program. Concerned school heads may collect the prescribed application forms by sending an email to director.se.nagaland@gmail.com. 
Filled in application forms along with required documents should be submitted at the office of the DoSE, Room No.18, Kohima on or before March 15. 
Students will be selected on the basis of academic performance in class 8, 50% weightage, extracurricular activities 30% weightage and locality of schools, rural schools located in panchayat area 20 % weightage. Selected students will be informed through their schools.
