DoS&WC celebrates ‘World Meteorological Day’

Department of Soil & Water Conservation (DoS&WC) celebrated “World Meteorological Day” Thursday under the theme, “The Future of Weather, Climate, and Water across Generations,” at Directorate Conference Hall.
A press release by the department informed that director DoS&WC, S. K. Hekshe highlighted the importance of meteorological and hydrological services for the safety and well-being of society.
He said that “World Meteorological Day” reminds the people of changing climate and educates the public on the important happenings in meteorology, such as global warming and the increased frequency of natural disasters.
Hekshe forewarned that, weather, climate and water cycle would be different in coming years, and added that the weather, climate and hydrological services would immensely help the people to tackle the associated challenges and seize the opportunity.
In commemoration of the “World Meteorological Day,” the director also released a booklet titled, “Meteorological report of Nagaland 2022”, which was published by the Soil Survey and Land Use Planning Wing (SSLUP) of the department. Chairperson of the programme, joint director and state nodal officer for meteorology, Rongsenlemzung stated that the ultimate goal of agriculture meteorology was to extend and fully deploy knowledge of atmospheric related processes to optimise agriculture production and hence increase profitability, decrease risk and feed an expand global population.
