Double engine sarkar non-starter in Nagaland, says AICC secretary

All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary and in-charge of Manipur, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Tripura Christopher Tilak claimed the people in the Northeast had come to realise that the BJP had miserably failed to deliver on its tall promises.

Addressing the extended executive meeting of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) at Congress Bhavan, Kohima on Monday, Tilak said young Nagas were desperately looking for employment opportunities, expressing concern over the BJP-NDPP government’s inability to address key issues such as the Naga political solution and livelihoods of the people.

He maintained that the much-touted double engine sarkar in Nagaland was a non starter.
He also accused the BJP of focusing solely on electoral numbers and majoritarian politics, contrasting this with the Congress’s focus on reaching out to the marginalised and the underrepresented.

He cited Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra and Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra as prime examples of the Congress’s commitment to grassroots politics and inclusive outreach.
Starting from Eastern Nagaland, he announced that the Congress would soon begin a tour of Nagaland, which would aim at identifying and empowering leaders from diverse sections of society, with a special emphasis on women leaders.

He said the tour was part of the Congress’s efforts to reconnect with the people and address the pressing issues facing the state.
The meeting was attended by members of the NPCC executive committee, district Congress committee presidents, frontals and department heads. This was stated in an NPCC press release.
