DPDB meetings held in Kohima, Zunheboto, Phek

DIMAPUR: Monthly District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meetings were held in Kohima, Zunheboto and Phek districts. During the meetings, various issues concerning the districts were discussed.
15 Southern Angami VAC declared best performing VAC: Village Adoption Committee (VAC) of 15 Southern Angami – II Assembly Constituency adopting Sakhabama village with its theme, “Towards achieving a sustainable Sakhabama” was declared the best performing VAC under the aegis of Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) activities for the year 2021-2022.
The second best performing VAC was awarded to the 8 Western Angami assembly constituency with Mezoma village as its adopted village.
According to a DIPR report, this was announced during the Kohima DPDB meeting held in the conference hall of DPDB Kohima on Wednesday.
During the meeting, advisor for Technical Education and Election, Medo Yhokha presented the first prize while advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire handed over the second prize to the winning teams.
The meeting held chaired by deputy commissioner (DC) and vice chairman, DPDB, Gregory Thejawelie, reviewed the last meeting minutes and took up the agenda on upgradation of Sechem School Nerhema Village Class VII-VIII, upgradation of GMS Merema to High School and introduction of science stream at Dr. Neilhouzhu Kire Higher Secondary School Seikhazou.
In this regard, the board considering the necessity of the requirement in the district to facilitate the students’ community decided to recommend the matters to the government for necessary action.
On the agenda of rechristening Government Higher Secondary School Kigwema, Medo Yhokha, who is also the chairman of Kohima DPDB shared the backdrop of the school and desire of Kigwema, Mima, Pfuchama and Phesama villages under southern area which was also recommended by the board to the government.
On proposal of establishment of Urban Development office for Kohima district moved by Khriehu Liezietsu, MLA, Dr. Nicky stressed on the need to have separate office for Kohima district to take up district affairs.
The board decided to recommend the matter to the government for further action.
Dr. Nicky reiterated on the introduction of Village Adoption programme to other districts as he felt that the programme would be beneficial to deserving section of people at grassroots level.
The board decided to share the documented VAC programme to the government and other districts.
The DC informed the members to attend the first DPDB Tseminyu meeting on April 14 as asked by DC Tseminyu since it was recently upgraded to district and many departments were yet to function as full-fledged.
Pointing out the need for district officers to participate in the area of capital building particularly more on the cleanliness and sanitation as emphasised by chief minister, DC said that though some initiatives were undertaken, there were still many areas which needed to be attended.
He sought cooperation from all departments and requested them to ensure their participation in respective areas.
In his concluding remarks, Medo Yhokha said that it was a great year for him and thanked the members and colleagues for being actively supportive in all round development of the district.
He said the year 2021 was a challenging year with the pandemic and appreciated all the concerned officers for executing their jobs. Although many activities could not be taken at grassroots level, he hoped that DPDB would be able to take policies and programmes of the government to the grassroots level in the years ahead.
Zunheboto to take up cherry plantations: The monthly meeting of Zunheboto DPDB was held on April 11 in the conference hall of the DC.
According to a DIPR report, DC and vice chairman DPDB Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali said that the district would take up cherry plantations around the town for beautification. In this regard, he sought for the support of all the departments in the district.
Meanwhile, principal of Zunheboto Government College (ZGC) spoke on the requirements of the college while a PowerPoint presentation from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Zunheboto was given by district surveillance officer (DSO) Zunheboto, Dr. J Hokugha Sema.
The DSO highlighted various activities of the department.
Earlier, introduction of members was also conducted, starting with new DC and vice chairman of DPDB Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali. Last meeting agenda was also reviewed.
Mega tree plantation to be held in Phek on Apr 20: The monthly meeting of Phek DPDB was held on April 11 in its conference hall. The meeting was chaired by ADC Phuleshe K. Yepthomi.
According to a DIPR report, the house welcomed new members—
district agricultural officer L. Sunep Pogener and Phek district employment officer K. Lipongse.
The programme for forthcoming inter-departmental tournament was deliberated where the need for participation of all the departments was discussed.
With regard to mega tree plantation, the board decided to conduct the programme on April 20 for which all HoOs were requested to extend cooperation.
Later, PowerPoint presentations were given by Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science department and Transport department.
The Urban Development Department and Fire & Emergency Services Department were entrusted to give presentations at the next meeting.
