DIMAPUR: District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meetings for Longleng and Noklak districts were held on September 15 and 18, deliberating on key developmental agendas and departmental activities.
In Longleng, the September meeting was held on September 18 at the DPDB Hall under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner and vice chairman DPDB, W. Manpai Phom. The meeting began with the introduction of new members.
Department of Medical briefed the house on TB Mukh Bharat Abhiyan, urging members and well wishers to support TB patients through financial assistance. The chairman updated the house on major projects, including the Light House Project at Government Higher Secondary School, Longleng, and the ongoing construction of the District Hospital.
Agendas discussed included establishment of a blood storage unit and blood bank at the District Hospital, which was approved for forwarding to higher authorities. The house also deliberated on external electrification and installation of a 100kV distribution transformer for the new hospital building. Plans to organise a departmental sports meet in October were also discussed.
The Social Welfare Department was tasked with collecting data on Anganwadi centres functioning in private and government buildings. The Education Department (DEO/SDEO) presented its activities through a PowerPoint, while the ADC requested reasons for 10 schools being blacklisted. The Police Department was entrusted to present in the next meeting.
In Noklak, the DPDB meeting was held on September 15 at the SP Conference Hall, chaired by DC and vice chairman DPDB, P. Mono Khiamniungan. The meeting began with a review of the previous minutes.
Agendas included a proposal for upgradation of Union Mission School (UMS) Pathso from Class 8 to Class 9, which was recommended to the department after deliberation and verification. The Social Welfare Department presented its activities, highlighting programmes for child and women welfare, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, nutrition and social security. Members encouraged the department to strengthen outreach in rural and remote areas.
SDO Civil Noklak, Vikhoto Richa, presented on behalf of the Urban Development Department, highlighting the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules 2026 and roles of various departments. The house entrusted the Forest Department to present in the next meeting.
Members also attended a video conference with the Planning & Transformation Department as part of sensitisation on Reform Utsav 2026.
