
Noklak District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) on August 17 held a meeting in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner, Noklak under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner & vice chairman DPDB Noklak, Hiazu Meru.
According to a DIPR report, being his first meeting with DPDB members, Hiazu Meru requested the members to work together so that Noklak district could go forward in all developmental fronts.
The DC expressed hope that DPDB Noklak would bring progressive change and benefits to the district and sought cooperation from DPDB members.
During the meeting, the house adopted Noklak town and agreed to pull in resources available in their respective departments to upgrade Noklak town.
Formation of Officers’ Club at Noklak town was discussed and a committee under the chairmanship of DC was resolved.
The house also formed a committee for preliminary case study on scrub typhus, typhoid and peripheral neuritis which were common diseases in the region.
The committee would comprise of EAC Noklak, B. Pukha Lam; medical officer, CHC Noklak, Dr. Chongya and SDO PHED Noklak, Er. Khaoshai Lam.
For public utility and facilities, proposal for operating/running a local taxi service in Noklak was deliberated and that a committee would fix the rates.
NST bus service from Noklak to Kohima and Dimapur was also discussed and the house approved and recommended it to the higher authority for consideration.
Meanwhile, SDO (C) Thonoknyu, Longdiba Sangtam informed the house regarding the road condition of Thonoknyu sub-division where he highlighted that both the roads connecting to Thonoknyu sub-division from Tuensang and Noklak was in a deplorable condition due to continuous rain.
In this regard, the house deliberated and agreed to apprise the responsible department.
