DPON dismayed over exclusion

While appreciating the initiative of art & culture department to have a photography competition to commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence, Dimasa Public Organisation Nagaland (DPON) has expressed unhappiness at the exclusion of Kachari tribe from the invitation for participation.

Organisation’s president K Naben in a press release demanded to know whether the indigenous tribe was not welcome to such kind of showcasing the original design of textiles worn.

He said it was not understood why time and again the Kacharis were made to reassert their existence in Nagaland, while also observing that the tribe seemed to be not desirable anymore in any department.

Recalling that Kacharis in Nagaland were part of the interim government after declaration of Statehood by option, Naben termed their negligence over the time as unfortunate.

“We request the concerned department to let us know the specific reason of the exclusion of two tribes for the competition. Kachari population in our State may be shrinking, but we have every right to have the privilege as any other indigenous tribe,” he asserted.
