
Union health & family welfare minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, accompanied by his wife, arrived Dimapur on a three-day visit to Nagaland on Thursday.
Vardhan was received by Health minister, Pangyu Phom, MP (Lok Sabha) Tokheho Yepthomi, senior state officials and BJP party workers at Dimapur airport. Later, the minister visited Health & Wellness Centre, Naga United village and also the Christian Institute of Health Sciences & Research (CIHSR).
During his visit to CIHSR, Dr. Vardhan inspected the facilities at the institute and also interacted with officials and staff.
According to a DIPR report, Dr. Vardhan impressed with the infrastructure of CISHR commented that the achievements within the years showed a brighter future.
Maintaining that India has witnessed huge reform process under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr.Vardhan said “Modi gives extreme focus from his heart for North East in particular.” He said that a lot of activities were happening in almost every field, adding that in every Cabinet meeting, dialogue happens for the development of North East region for economic upliftment and welfare of the people.
Further, the union minister said that the programmes implemented over the years in the North East itself justified the commitment of PM Modi.
Asserting that Modi government has huge focus on the health sector, Dr. Vardhan said that Ayushman Health Scheme has become one of the most ambitious programmes.
Talking about India’s potential in terms of manpower and infrastructure, Dr. Vardhan stated that good strategy was the key to achieving goals.
On Friday, the union minister would lay the foundation stone of the Mon Medical College in Mon district and also visit Longwa village. After arriving in Kohima, Dr Vadhan would visit the site of the Kohima Medical College and Kohima War Cemetery on Saturday and depart for Imphal in the afternoon.
