Dr. Yhome visits schools at Satoi HQ

Advisor of School Education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, on April 7 visited Satoi HQ, Satakha subdivision of Zunheboto district.

In a press release, Satoi range GBS Association informed that during the visit, Dr. Yhome held an interaction at the Cultural Hall in Satoi Town with civil society members and stakeholders from 11 villages under Satoi Range, including government teachers, village Councils, Satoi Range GBs Association, Satoi Range Students Union (SRSU) and Satoi Town Elders Forum to discuss educational reforms and improvements.

Dr. Yhome highlighted that there are 38 schools in Satakha constituency, with nine in Satoi range, and urged the community to enroll in local government schools to save costs and access quality education. He emphasized the role of well-qualified teachers and the importance of enrolling both male and female students.

Dr. Yhome also called on village communities to protect government schools properties and contribute to community welfare. He addressed ongoing concerns about teacher shortages and student enrollment, acknowledging the long-standing issue of mutual blame between civil societies and the government.

He proposed that increasing student enrollment in government schools would help resolve the teacher shortage, allowing for better teacher deployment. He also mentioned that government schools could receive enrolment relaxations if communities commit to improving enrolment numbers.

On the teacher transfers, he clarified that transfers are based on the needs of the schools, not tied to specific posts. He explained that the downgrading and closure of government schools occur due to low enrolment. However, he assured that if student enrolment improves, the state government could consider upgrading the schools.

He therefore urged the stakeholders to avoid pressuring the government and to trust in its ability to address the issue. During the interaction, the Satoi Range GBs Association (SRGBA) requested Dr. Yhome to replace graduate teacher at GMS Satoi retiring on April and ensure adequate teachers. The association also requested for the construction of staff quarters and other necessary infrastructure in Satoi headquarters.

Also speaking at the interaction, minister of Roads and Bridges, G. Kaito Aye praised Dr. Yhome and officials for visiting Satoi HQ and also acknowledged improvements in educational standards and reforms across the state under Dr. Yhome’s leadership.

He pointed out the challenges faced by Satoi Range due to insurgency but expressed confidence in ongoing reforms under chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio’s leadership.
He assured support for teacher rationalization efforts and encouraged stakeholders to take responsibility for increasing student enrolment.

Dr. Yhome along with G. Kaito Aye, visited GMS Satoi after a formal interaction at the Cultural Hall in Satoi Town. They interacted with the teaching staff during the visit.
