NEW DELHI, MAY 24 (AGENCIES): The Centre has released draft rules for implementing the Viksit Bharat– Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025 (VB-G RAM G), which will replace MGNREGA from July 1, outlining the institutional, financial and administrative framework for the revamped rural employment scheme.
The draft rules, published by the Rural Development ministry in the e-Gazette on Friday for 30 days of public consultation, provide for transition of all ongoing MGNREGA works into the new framework from July 1.
At a review meeting on Saturday, the ministry asked States/UTs to complete ongoing MGNREGA works in time, while clarifying that projects continuing beyond June 30 would be shifted under VB-G RAM G.
The rules stated that existing e-KYC-verified MGNREGA job cards would remain temporarily valid until new Gramin Rozgar Guarantee Cards are issued.
The new law increases the annual employment guarantee from 100 to 125 days, while direct benefit transfer will continue for wage payments and unemployment allowance.
