Dimapur Riphyim Union (DRU) has condemned the assassination bid on the life of Joseph Patton of Riphyim old village on January 12 night at Lamati near Zubza while he was proceeding towards Dimapur.
In a press release, DRU chairman Dr. S Thungdemo Tungoe said the ambush was carried out methodically with an intend to kill as they were fired indiscriminately at point plank. It was, however, through divine intervention that all occupants including five of them in the vehicle escaped unhurt.
Union has termed as ‘act of cowardice and beastly instinct’ which should be condemned by all section of the society. Union further demanded full-fledged enquiry on the incident to determine the source of crime and apprehend the culprit involved in the act at the earliest and award befitting punishment according to the law of the land.
