DIMAPUR, AUG 27 (NPN): Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), Nagaland Medicine Dealers Association (NMDA) and Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) have lauded Dimapur police for the seizure of 19,760 bottles of suspected codeine-based cough syrup during a raid at a warehouse in Marwari Patti, Dimapur on August 25, 2026.
In a press release, NCD president GK Rengma and general secretary LK Peter Anal commended Commissioner of Police Aotula Imchen and the police personnel involved in the operation, which led to the recovery of 126 cartons containing the suspected contraband.
NCD urged police and other law enforcement agencies to identify and arrest all those involved in the illegal drug trade and ensure that they were punished according to law.
The council also appealed to civil society organisations, citizens and church leaders to cooperate with the police in curbing the sale of narcotic drugs and other prohibited substances. NCD expressed concern that more such illegal stocks could be concealed in the city.
NMDA: Nagaland Medicine Dealers Association (NMDA) also congratulated Dimapur police and appreciated the Anti-Narcotic Task Force and other law enforcement agencies for their efforts against the illegal drug trade. In a press release, NMDA joint secretary Arijit Sharma said the operation reflected the vigilance and commitment of law enforcement agencies towards a zero-tolerance approach against narcotic drugs.
As the apex body of medicine dealers in the state, NMDA said it strongly condemned any drug licence holder involved in malpractice or the misuse of licences for illegal activities.
The association said it stood firmly with the drugs control department and law enforcement agencies and assured full cooperation in action taken against offenders in accordance with the law.
NMDA reiterated its commitment to promoting ethical practices in the pharmaceutical trade and working towards a drug-free society.
DAYO: Dimapur Ao Youth Organisation (DAYO) through its media cell also appreciated Dimapur police for the intelligence-based operation, describing the large seizure as a reminder of the growing threat posed by the illegal circulation of pharmaceutical drugs and other intoxicating substances.
The youth body condemned the use of Dimapur as a transit point or market for illegal drugs, saying drug abuse had far-reaching consequences for individuals, families, youth and society.
DAYO urged the police to continue intelligence-based operations and take stringent action against those involved in the illegal procurement, storage, transportation and distribution of such substances.
It also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information about drug-related activities to law enforcement agencies.
DAYO said a drug-free society could not be achieved by the police alone and required the collective efforts of the government, law enforcement agencies, civil society organisations, communities and citizens.
The organisation reiterated its call for zero tolerance towards the illegal drug trade in Dimapur and Nagaland.
