DSC, ENPUD hold joint meeting; call for Naga unity

DIMAPUR: In a significant step toward fostering inter tribal harmony and integration, the Dimapur Sümi Council (DSC) and Eastern Nagaland People’s Union Dimapur (ENPUD) held a high level joint co ordination meeting at the DSC office on Saturday.
The meeting, chaired by DSC president Shikuto Yeptho, was aimed at reinforcing old bonds and exploring avenues for regional progress. It followed the recent 74th Phom Day (Peace Day) observed on June 6, where DSC members participated alongside ENPUD leaders led by president N.T. Thamlong Phom.
Speakers recalled the historic affiliation of the Eastern Sümi Hoho (ESH) with the Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) in 2023, and the subsequent inclusion of the Eastern Nagaland Sümi Union Dimapur (ENSUD) into ENPUD in 2025.
These developments were described as “historic steps” toward deeper unity among diverse tribal communities in Dimapur.
Addressing the gathering, ENPUD president and other leaders stressed the importance of strengthening ancestral ties between the Sümi and eastern tribes. Dimapur District GB Federation president Hokuto Zhimomi, Dimapur Sümi Totimi Loka president Viholi V. Zhimomi, Naga Council Dimapur representative Hotoshe Chophy and senior leaders from DSC, GBUD and advisors also spoke, collectively urging the nurturing of brotherhood relations and standing firm for Naga solidarity through collective leadership.
In his concluding remarks, DSC president Shikuto Yeptho extended gratitude to the ENPUD delegation and expressed optimism for the future of their relationship. He also announced that the upcoming Sümi Ahuna Festival would serve as a platform for cultural celebration, peace and tribal integration.
