DSLA Peren conducts training on new criminal laws

The Peren District Legal Services Authority conducted a One Day Training Program on the New Criminal Laws namely Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 and the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam at the Drill Shed, New Reserve Peren on July 5, with the District Enforcement Force, Peren and the District Jail, Peren.


Chief Judicial Magistrate/ secretary DLSA Peren, Wonchibeni V Patton in a press statement informed that the attendee of the program were the police officers and jail officers headed by Superintendent of District Jail under Peren District, Aonochet. The Peren District Legal Services Authority conducted the program focused on the Three new criminal laws that came into force on July 1, with an aim to enhance awareness and understanding of the new criminal laws among the law enforcement officials in Peren.


While speaking in the first session Wonchibeni V Patton stated that the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023 is a critical legislative frame work and plays a pivotal role in safeguarding the rights and security of Indian citizens. A detail PowerPoint slide covering the key provisions and practical applications under the BNSS was presented by the resource person.


DLSA Peren, retainer lawyer, Asungbe conducted a session focused on elucidating the differences between the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the newly introduced Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 (BNS).

Detailed comparative analysis on specific sections of the IPC and their counter parts in the BNS was presented by the resource person. DLSA Peren, panel lawyer Italang Ramlia while speaking on the New evidence law “Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam” stressed that the understanding of the BNS is essential for effective law enforcement.

The resource person also highlighted the need for district law enforcement to be will equipped to navigate the nuances of the new criminal laws with special emphasize on understanding the provisions on the electronic and digital evidence which will directly impact the investigation and prosecution of criminal cases. He also urged the participants to understand and adhere to the Standard operating procedure (SOP) for Audio – Visual Recording of Scene of Crime issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The program was chaired by Sub- Divisional Police Officer, Peren, Atu ZumvÜ and the welcome address was delivered by Superintendent of Police, Peren, Manish Bhartiya.
