DSPTCC celebrates 25th anniversary

Dimapur Süngratsü Pongen Tenem Culture Club (DSPTCC) celebrated its 25th anniversary on Saturday at Senden Riju, Purana Bazaar, Dimapur, under the theme “Sobaliba Semno.”
Gracing the occasion as the speaker, retired director of Social Welfare, T. Merang Aier, stressed the importance of preserving and promoting indigenous culture amid rapid global changes. He reminded the gathering that culture was not limited to performances but encompasses the values, practices, and wisdom handed down by forefathers. Merang urged the youth to stay rooted in their identity while preparing to face global challenges.
“Culture begins with how we speak and how we settle as a community. Without cultural grounding, we lose our direction,” he said, while calling on youth to equip themselves with life skills beyond formal education. He emphasized that while degrees are important, practical skills and unity are key to survival and societal growth.
During the first session DSPTCC president Sademkokba delivered the welcome address, followed by an invocation by Home Evangelist Talizulu Ozukum of Dimapur. Greetings were shared by DSST president Kilenyanger Aier, and a presidential speech was delivered by I. Amongba Aier. The session featured a special number by Tiameren Aier, a jubilee planning report by convenor Tongpangwati Walling, and an editorial report along with the unveiling of the jubilee souvenir by retired director of Urban Development, S. Takatuba Imchen. Temjensoba Longchar, general secretary of DSPTCC, delivered the vote of thanks, and the benediction was offered by DABA Associate Pastor (Women), Amongla Aier.
The second session showcased traditional and cultural events, including Sangpangtu and Kimak ken by the Dimapur Sungratsu Mejensanger Putu Ait, the Nokinketer (warrior dance) by DSLT, and Sungonaro ken (cultural song) by DATST. Other highlights included a tug of war between Putu Ait and Lanu Zunga, a Tsüngremmung song by DSST, and a traditional Kidong tenet display and was compered by Chubaniksung Longchar and Moalemla Aier.
