In support of a “better Dimapur” and a “tobacco free Dimapur,” a cycle rally was jointly organised by District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC), Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) and Salesian College of Higher Education (SCHE) on December 1.
Addressing the students at the end of the rally, Dr. Tetseo underscored the importance of clean and tobacco free Dimapur and said, “When we see our homes and offices neat and tidy, we can say that we live in a better Dimapur”. DMC liaison officer, Ganesh Sharma, requested all the gathering to cooperate with the efforts of DMC to make a waste and dust free Dimapur.
In his short message before the rally, chief medical officer (CMO) Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi, also exhorted students to be harbingers of change in the society and thanked all the participants for their keen interest in “Better Dimapur.”
Earlier, CMO Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi flagged off the pedal rally at Thehekhu village gate, while principal SCHE Fr. Dr. Policarp Xalxo thanked CEO, DMC Moa Sangtam, medical department of Dimapur, commissioner of police Dimapur Limasunep Jamir, SCHE rector Fr. Tom Karthik, GSS rector Fr. Sunny Joseph, rally co-ordinator Avibou Nagi, NTCP members Medongunuo Pienyii, Akangnaro Jamir, staff and students of SCHE.
About 150 cyclists with messages on their placards covered the stretch from Thahekhu village gate, Lhomithi village, Signal Angami, Naga Gaon, Sub-Jail, DC Court Jn, Kher Mahal, Hotel Senti, Burma Camp, Walford (Essar Petrol Pump), Nagarjan road to Salesian College.
