District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) Wokha held an “Awareness Programme” for school students and community leaders during a “health mela” organised by District Health Society (DHS), NHM Health & Family Welfare, Wokha on April 17 at Yipang village under Bhandari block, Wokha.
A press release from DEO (NTCP) Wokha, stated that a power-point presentation on “Tobacco and its ill effects” was presented by senior dental surgeon and district nodal officer, Dr. Meribeni Odyuo.
Dr. Meribeni sensitized the participants on the different forms of tobacco products and how tobacco affects the health. She also presented a detailed power point presentation on oral health and hygiene in the second session.
Psychologist, Abeni R. Kikon, gave a speech on COTPA Act 2003 and called on the village authority to strive to make their villages tobacco free.
