Dimapur Tribe Hohos (DTH) at the meeting held among 16 of the 19 member-tribes on November 10, constituted a five-member Peace Committee to resolve the impasse over election of the new NCD team. The issue had gone to court over violation of NCD constitution.
According to sources who attended the meeting, the committee includes tribe representatives of Ao, Angami, Sumi, Chakhesang and Sangtam.
Earlier, Tenyimi Union Dimapur through a press statement issued by its chairman Hilo Rengma and joint secretary Hepuni John, expressed appreciation of the initiative by DTH to find “amicable settlement” to the prolonged Naga Council Dimapur issue at a meeting on November 9.
TUD said the “non functioning” of the NCD due to the impasse had adversely affected the general public. TUD further extended its fullest support towards the DTH.
