In view of “29th National Road Safety Week 2018”, Dimapur traffic police (DTP) organised various activities as part of the week-long awareness programme on road safety.
National road safety week 2018, which is being held under the theme “Sadak Suraksha Jeevan Raksha”, commenced on April 23 and will culminate on April 30.
Dimapur traffic police on Wednesday called on the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Air-wing from various educational institutions to let the cadets take cognizance of various traffic rules and regulations.
Speaking to Nagaland Post, ACP (traffic) Zone-I, Dimapur, Seyiesezo Peseyie, said that with an aim to educate NNC cadets on the importance of traffic rules, cadets from five educational institutions were deployed at various areas of the town along with traffic personnel.
He said under Zone-I, 57 cadets from Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) and Eastern Christian College (ECC) were deployed while 59 cadets from Christina Memorial School, Government High School Purana Bazaar and Pilgrim School were deployed under Zone-II.
Peseyie said that cadets, in NCC uniform, with the assistance of traffic personnel, were given the opportunity to regulate traffic and to check illegal vehicular parking in and around the city.
As part of the week-long activity, Peseyie said, DTP had put up flagship banners in and around the city and that in collaboration with Maruti Progressive Motors Dimapur and Mahindra Apex Motors Dimapur, traffic personnel would be distributing around 4000 car key-chains to commuters in the city on April 27.
Peseyie also said that DTP would also be organising a seminar on road safety on April 28 at Medziphema and would be distributing road safety pamphlets and sweets on April 30 in Dimapur.
