DUCCF flags underuse; seekseasier booking at Nagaland Houses

DIMAPUR, APR 9 (NPN):

Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) has expressed concern over the underutilisation of Nagaland Houses in major cities, citing persistent deficits as per the Home Department’s 2025–26 report.
In a statement, DUCCF said facilities in New Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and Shillong were operating below capacity due to cumbersome, non-transparent and time-consuming reservation procedures that discouraged access.
It stated that genuine Naga travellers, including patients, students and those on official work, faced multiple formalities and delays, forcing many to opt for expensive private accommodation. DUCCF noted that these guest houses were established to provide affordable stay for Nagas outside the state, particularly those in need.
The federation urged the state government to simplify and streamline the booking process, including introduction of an online system, and ensure fair allocation with priority for patients and students.
It also called for making rooms accessible to all Nagas when available, stating this would improve occupancy and reduce losses.
