28 villagers from Indo-Myanmar border blocks under BADP capacity building/skill development programme 2016-17 availed two months mechanised stone cutting & masonry training-cum-providing of multiple blade stone cutting machines.
A press note by DUDA director, K. S. Anden Konyak stated that during valedictory speech as chief guest on November 6 at Kuda Tech Skill Centre, IIDC, Kiruphema Kohima, secretary of DUDA Senti Ao briefed the gathering that this particular training was due to the abundant available raw materials of both sandstone and decorative & dimensional stone deposits in the Indo-Myanmar border areas with many local manual masonries practising in the villages for their livelihood.
He stated that in order to inculcate the modern technology skill up-gradation and output efficiency, this two-month training has been imparted to 28 local masons (trainees) to boost both production and value added products.
He appreciated the department for selecting one of the best training institutes i.e Kuda Tech Skill Centre located at IIDC, Kiruphema, Kohima in collaboration with NTTC, Dimapur who designed and manufactured this multiple blade stone cutting machine which is purely an indigenous product “Made in Nagaland”.
He said that this training programme was a direct benefit to the villages since the machine provided was given free of cost to the villagers to make use of it to generate/produce stone value added products either for own construction or commercial purpose. He urged upon the trainees to go back to their respective villages as torch bearers to teach the youths the skill they had learnt for livelihood of the villagers.
The programme was chaired by K.S. Anden Konyak with invocation prayer by Renao Lotha and short speech on training activities by Kevisetuo Rhitso, principal, Kuda Tech Skill Centre.
