DWSM PHED organises workshop at Pongching village

District Water & Sanitation Mission (DWSM), Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) organised a workshop on “maintenance of open defecation free” as part of “Swachh Republic Week” sponsored by WSSO, PHED, Kohima at Pongching village on January 24.
Speaking at the workshop as guest of honour, BDO Sakshi block, Namsung, emphasised on the importance of cleanliness and stressed on spread of diseases due to open defecation.
He also highlighted the importance of hand washing after defecation and also called for educating the people and spreading awareness about the importance of maintaining a hygienic life style.
Resource person, E.E PHED, Longleng, Er. Imnazulu Ao, lauded the villagers for their active participation and contribution in making their village open defecation free.
He also encouraged them to set hygienic goals to become a sanitation model village.
The programme was chaired by chemist, PHED Longleng, Sumachiba Walling and welcome address was delivered by village council chairman.
