Dy.CM conducts surprise checking at secretariat

State deputy chief minister (home), Y Patton, accompanied by the officers of the home department, conducted a surprise check of branches within the home department at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat on March 27, 2025.

In a press release, Dy. CMO (home) media cell informed that deputy chief minister (home) took strong exception to those officials who were found absent without proper leave.

He has directed the officers that action as per the principle of “No Work No Pay” as contained in Government of Nagaland OM No. AR-13/5/89 dated 5th September, 1994 be strictly imposed.

Further, Patton said that absenteeism without availing proper leave caused distress to the common people who visit the Secretariat for official purposes. The deputy chief minister warned that such surprise checking would be conducted under all departments within the Nagaland Civil Secretariat in the coming days.

Taking serious note of “less than satisfactory attendance” in several departments in the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, the home department through a circular on March 26, 2025 informed that surprise checking would be conducted in all departments/branches in the Secretariat during office hours (9.30 am to 4 pm). It said that disciplinary proceedings would be initi¬ated against the defaulting officials.
