Deputy chief minister Y. Patton visited various markets in Kohima on Tuesday as part of the ongoing GST Bachat Utsav campaign, aimed at spreading awareness on the benefits of GST reforms.
The campaign, held under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and guided by BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda, seeks to educate traders and citizens on how GST has simplified the tax system, reduced burdens on small businesses, and ensured fair pricing of goods and services.
In a press release, media cell of Dy CM, informed that during his visit, Patton interacted with shopkeepers and traders, highlighting how GST reforms are contributing to economic growth and strengthening local trade. He also distributed flowers and promotional items to shopkeepers as a gesture of appreciation.
Shopkeepers expressed their support by echoing the slogan “Garv Se Kaho, Yah Swadeshi Hai,” reflecting pride in indigenous enterprise and commitment to a self-reliant India.
Patton noted that the campaign is not only focused on easing the tax burden but also on ensuring that its benefits reach citizens directly.
