Dy CM T.R. Zeliang’s son Kuchi passes away

DIMAPUR, OCT 9 (NPN): Kuchi Rangkau Zeliang, son of deputy chief minister T.R. Zeliang, passed away at a private hospital in Dimapur on Friday evening, October 9.
According to family sources, the funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday (October 10), at the family residence, 3rd Mile, behind The Fitness House.
Among those who visited the family home to express solidarity with the bereaved family were chief minister Dr. Neiphiu Rio, Mrs. Kaisa Rio, several cabinet ministers and legislators.
Kuchi was an entrepreneur, sports enthusiast and youth leader who contributed to youth development in Nagaland. He was a founding member and co-chair (Events) of YouthNet, an organisation working in youth development, entrepreneurship and employment, and had also served as an advisor to the Zeliang Youth Organisation Dimapur (ZYOD).
PM, others condole: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the untimely demise of Kuchi Rangkau Zeliang, son of Nagaland deputy chief minister T.R. Zeliang.
In a condolence message on X, Modi said his thoughts were with the Zeliang family and their friends in their hour of grief. He prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
Deputy chief minister Yanthungo Patton expressed deep grief over Kuchi’s untimely demise. He said the loss of a child in the prime of youth brought unbearable pain to parents and loved ones, and conveyed solidarity with T.R. Zeliang and the bereaved family. He prayed for strength and solace for the family and eternal peace for the departed soul.
Naga People’s Front remembered Kuchi for his humility, gentle nature and friendly rapport with people from all walks of life.
The party said he was widely loved by the younger generation for his affability and sporting spirit, and extended condolences to T.R. Zeliang and the bereaved family.
Zeliang Youth Organisation Dimapur (ZYOD), of which Kuchi was a former advisor, described his death as an irreparable loss to the Zeliang community and Nagas at large.
It remembered him as a humble, God-fearing and principled person, a devoted husband and father, and a dutiful son, and prayed for comfort and strength for the family.
NPF Central Minority Wing president Bishnu Bhattacharjee said Kuchi had been closely associated with the wing and had offered guidance and support whenever needed. Describing him as a noble person and promising young leader, the wing conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
Rongmei Community Dimapur (RCD) also mourned his passing, describing him as a philanthropist, businessman, sports enthusiast and emerging leader whose contributions had made a meaningful impact on society. The community expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed for strength and peace during the difficult time.
