DIMAPUR, JUL 21 (NPN): The Dimasa Youth Organisation, Nagaland (DYON) hosted the 3rd Dimasa Inter-Village Tournament 2026 from July 17 to 20, bringing together youth from Dimasa villages across Nagaland in a spirited celebration of sportsmanship, unity and community bonding.
Over four days, the tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation across multiple disciplines. Darogajan Village Youth emerged champions in men’s football, while Doyapur Village Youth claimed victory in women’s football. Disaguphu Village Youth secured double triumphs, winning both women’s volleyball and men’s cricket.
The opening ceremony on July 17 was graced by president of the Sumi Dimasa Union, H. Vekuto Swu, as chief guest, with Rtd director of the Department of Veterinary Services & Animal Husbandry, Dr. Aomangyang Walling, attending as guest of honour. Rtd additional secretary, Government of Nagaland and president of the Dimasa Naiso Hosom Nagaland (DNHN), K. Naben, was also present as a distinguished guest.
In his inaugural address, Swu emphasized the enduring friendship between the Sumi and Dimasa communities, expressing confidence that the bond would continue to strengthen. He encouraged youth to actively engage in sports, noting that games foster discipline, teamwork, leadership and a healthy lifestyle.
The closing ceremony on July 20 was graced by president of the Dimasa Public Organisation Nagaland (DPON), Ditush Naben, as chief guest. He commended DYON for its successful organization and praised the teams for their exemplary sportsmanship, unity and determination.
The tournament concluded on a celebratory note, reinforcing solidarity and cooperation among Dimasa villages. DYON expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hazadisa Village for generously providing the playground and extending vital support. The organisation also acknowledged the tireless efforts of Hazadisa and Manglumukh Village Youths & Students, whose volunteer spirit and dedication ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
DYON further conveyed its appreciation to all participating teams, match officials, volunteers, supporters, sponsors and well-wishers, affirming that the 3rd Dimasa Inter-Village Tournament 2026 will be remembered as a vibrant celebration of sportsmanship, friendship, cultural harmony and unity.
