An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale struck Manipur early Tuesday, with its epicentre located in Kamjong district, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The tremor was recorded at 5:59:33 IST.
The quake originated at a depth of 62 kilometres, classifying it as moderately deep. Such depth typically reduces the intensity of shaking compared to shallow quakes, though tremors can still be widely felt across surrounding regions.
Confirming the event on X, the NCS stated: “EQ of M: 5.2, On: 21/04/2026 05:59:33 IST, Lat: 24.703 N, Long: 94.415 E, Depth: 62 Km, Location: Kamjong, Manipur.”
