Eastern Nagaland bodies back FNT pact, reaffirm unity

A consultative and coordination meeting of Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO), eight tribal councils, Eastern Naga National Workers’ Union (ENNWU) and Eastern Naga National Workers’ Association (ENNWA) was held on April 16 at Konyak Union Hall, Mon town, where key resolutions were adopted.
According to a resolution signed by ENPO president Chingmak Chang and general secretary Honang Konyak, the house, while reaffirming the historic ENPO “Tuensang Summit Declaration of Eastern Nagaland as a Peace Zone” on December 18, 2007, unanimously resolved to stand by the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) on Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) signed on February 5, 2026 between Government of India, Nagaland government and ENPO, and to safeguard the future of the younger generation.
The meeting, attended by ENPO and eight tribal councils– Konyak Union, Chang Khulei Setshang, United Sangtam Likhum Pumji, Phom Peoples’ Council, Yimkhiung Tribal Council, Khiamniungan Tribal Council, Tikhir Tribal Council and Eastern Sumi Hoho– along with ENNWU and ENNWA, also resolved to remain committed in one accord to ensure peace, justice through equality, and uphold the spirit of fraternity and integrity. The house also resolved to strive towards comprehensive socio-economic development in the remote eastern region at par with the rest of the State.
The meeting concluded with participants pledging to uphold unity and brotherhood, and to align their minds and actions to address any eventualities that may hinder the growth and prosperity of future generations of the Eastern Nagas.
