Election Commission (EC) has decided to double the annual remuneration for booth-level officers (BLOs) and enhanced the remuneration of BLO supervisors involved in the preparation and revision of electoral rolls. The last such revision was done in 2015.
Since 2015, BLOs were getting Rs 6,000 per annum for their work. However, the amount now stands at Rs 12,000 annually.
Also, the first time, the EC has provided honorarium for electoral registration officers (EROs) and assistant EROs (AEROs) to the tune of Rs 30,000 and Rs 25,000 per annum respectively.
Besides, the commission had also approved a special incentive of Rs 6,000 for BLOs for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) starting from Bihar.
