EDSSU 25th anniversary celebration ends

Two-day East Dimapur Sumi Students Union (EDSSU) silver jubilee celebration programme culminated on Friday at East Dimapur Sumi Baptist Church (EDSBC) Purana Bazar, Dimapur with ex-MLA, Azheto Zhimomi as chief guest. 
In his speech, he encouraged the students to work hard by leaving aside “ism” so that the society as a whole could move forward. 
He also underscored the need and importance of understanding one’s cultural identity and one’s own dialect.  
EDSSU president, Kanato S. Awomi highlighted various activities carried out by the union during his tenure. He also informed that the union will be providing free coaching for two months (January and February, 2018) for High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) students. 
Also speaking at the programme, East Dimapur Sumi Council (EDSC) chairman Vihoto Achumi called upon the students to inculcate quality education and work for the welfare of the Sumi community in general. He also encouraged the gathering to stand for truth putting God as the first priority. 
Earlier, folk dance was presented by East Dimapur Sumi Youth Organization (EDSYO), the programme was chaired by ex-general secretary (1922-93) Ikheni Yepthomi, invocation prayer was pronounced by EDSBC, Purana Bazaar associate pastor Samuel Yepthomi and special number was presented by NCRC Sumi youth, Purana Bazaar and jubilee choir. 
 Later, benediction was pronounced by NCRC Sumi, Purana Bazaar, East Dimapur women pastor Kihoni X. Achumi.
