East Dimapur Sumi Students’ Union (EDSSU) organized a felicitation programme for the successful students of recently held High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Highher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations, Sunday at Sumi Baptist Church Purana Bazar.
Speaking in programme as the main speaker, Nikos Hospital endoscopic and general surgeon Dr. Ikheto Y Sema dwelled on the correlation of hard work and success.
To the successful students, Dr. Ikheto said, “Struggle today to enjoy tomorrow, enjoy today and you will struggle tomorrow” and added that only hard work and sincerity would lead them to success. He also made it clear that hard work do not have any substitute.
Drawing examples from his own life, Dr. Ikheto exhorted the students that in order to achieve one’s dream setting a definite goal was important and one should persistently pursue that goal one have set.
Encouraging the students to have a “never-give-up” attitude, he cited examples from famous figures like American inventor and savvy businessman Thomas Alva Edison who patented 1093 gadgets including motion pictures, light bulbs and American President Abraham Lincoln who was a civil right activist, lawyer and regarded as America’s greatest heroes.
He pointed out that both went through their share of failures till they tasted well dignified success.
Dr. Ikheto also exhorted the students to be in tune with God in their daily walks of live like Abraham, Isaac and Moses who were the ultimate illustrations of righteous and God fearing men.
Sharing the word of God, Western Sumi Baptist Akukuhou Kuqhakulu (WSBAK) mission promoter Reverend Aheto Sema delved into the meaning and usefulness of a vision propelled life which eventually creates the future.
He said, “Success is not only about winning but it is about consistency” and urged the students to strive for the better at the same time stand firm on the word of God.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by EDSSU assistant general secretary Kakuto Achumi, invocation was pronounced by NCRC women leader Kihono Achumi, welcome address was delivered by EDSSU president Kanato S Awomi while greeting on behalf of the successful candidates was conveyed by Itoki K Awomi.
Songs in different genres were presented by Jackto Wotsa, Illi Zenoni Zhimo, Nilokali Zhimo followed with presentation by assistant educational and statistical secretary S Hoshemu Awomi. SBC Purana Bazar pastor Reverend Dr. Vitoi Kappo invoked God’s blessings to the successful students. A total of 60 students from both HSLC and HSSLC were felicitated.
