DIMAPUR: East Dimapur Town Council (EDTC) has appealed to all business establishments within its jurisdiction, particularly hotels, pharmacies, petrol pumps, bakeries and street food vendors, to remain open and continue operations on Sundays after 12 noon.
In a press release, the council said the availability of essential services and daily necessities was important for public convenience and welfare, as EDTC was entrusted with maintaining public health, sanitation and safety within its jurisdiction.
EDTC stated that any business establishment holding a valid trade licence issued by the council was entitled to conduct business activities within its jurisdiction, subject to applicable laws and regulations, without undue obstruction or interference from any individual, organisation, group or association. The council, therefore, requested all individuals, organisations, groups and associations to refrain from imposing any orders, restrictions or directives that could prevent or obstruct the functioning of such establishments.
EDTC urged all concerned to cooperate in ensuring that essential services, particularly healthcare, food, fuel and other basic necessities, remain accessible to the public. It also sought the cooperation of all stakeholders in the larger interest of the public.
